TMH 20 Inch Dual Row 126W Light Bar: An Affordable Solution For ATV And Off Road Vehicles

Winter months and darkness pretty much go hand in hand. But so does rain, snow and fog. And all of these are one of the leading reasons for traffic accidents in the US. Once visibility is diminished, you hugely increase your risk of having some sort of an accident. It’s not an issue you’ll encounter in well-lit cities.

But when you head out into rural or off-road settings that changes completely.

It does make perfect sense though. The less you can see of what’s going on ahead, the less time you will have to react. Even with all the lights of your car or truck turned on you’ll only get visibility straight ahead.

Outside of cities, a lot of the danger can appear from off the road. Like large animals running onto the road only to be startled by the headlights. If this happens before you can stop then serious crashes and injuries can occur.

But with a 20 inch LED light bar you can make sure you illuminate further ahead and to each side. That means you can spot danger longer before it becomes a threat. And with the flood light beam going out to each side, you will even get animals to freeze while they are still off the road.

The TMH product we look at in this article is an extremely affordable solution that will hugely increase your driving safety. Keep reading to find out what benefits it will bring you.

Quick Overview

This TMH light bar is an excellent option if you don’t want to spend a fortune. Some of the competitor products can cost hundreds of Dollars. While they may well be worth the investment, you sometimes just want something cheap that works.

The good news is that you get a huge amount of visibility with a total 126W output from 42 Cree LED bulbs. That gives you a total of 13000 lumens which is a very bright piece of equipment.

You can easily switch between spot and flood lighting when needed, and also have all bulbs on at the same time. When you’re in extremely dark conditions then that is the best setting, as it will light up the road ahead and everything close to the side.

Just be aware that oncoming traffic can be blinded by these lights, so make sure you turn them off in time.

The total length of the bar is 20 inches. That might sound huge, but it’s probably more a midsize option. The advantage is that it will fit the majority of vehicles including family cars, trucks, ATVs and SUVs.

And because the mounting brackets go underneath, there is no extra width required for installation. We’ll take a closer look at suitable vehicles and installation tips further down.

The bulbs come with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. That’s over 5.5 years if you left them on continuously. It’s probably more likely that your vehicle will give up before these lights. What’s also import is that the color of the light is above 6,000 Kelvin. That is the range of pure white, which has huge benefits in rain, fog and snow. More on that in the next section.

Just be aware that yoy will need to order a wiring harness separately, so make sure you add that to you basket before checking out. Also, if you spend a lot of time on dirt roads where there is a lot of vibration then you will need to check the screws regularly. You can also use some thread glue to make sure they stay in place.

Detailed Specifications

The TMH is certainly not the absolute brightest LED light bar out there. But in this size range it performs exceptionally well. In this section we want to take a closer look at a couple of features and why they are so important. It will really show how this is such a great investment at a very affordable price.

Obviously, light is the primary reason why you want to buy one of these bars. But what most people don’t realize is that there are different colors of light. And this is possibly even more important than the overall brightness.

Why is that?

See, different color light will reflect off water molecules in different ways. A more red or yellow toned light will reflect a lot more off for, rain and snow. The effect is that you will actually see less, rather than more when you use such light in those conditions.

The type of light you want to make sure you focus on is pure white. This is as close as possible to bright sunlight. And that will ensure that it penetrates deep into rain, fog and snow.

This TMH product comes with a spec of 6,000K. 6,500 would be better, but considering the price you pay, it’s a great feature to have. It’s certainly in the pure white range of light.

When it comes to size, bigger does generally mean more light. Yes, you can get smaller LED bulb sizes, but that significantly drives up their price. What you really want to focus on here is to get something that isn’t too bit and that will comfortably fit your vehicle.

At 20 inches in total length and 4.5 inches high, you will get a relatively compact device. It will certainly fit cars and trucks of all sizes. Where it might get a bit tight is on ATVs and other specialty vehicles. If you plan on using it for one of them, then make sure you do some measurements first.

On the materials side you want to make sure that it will stand the test of tough on and off-road conditions as well as hail rain and shine. In most cases, you will likely have your vehicle outside all year round. And you don’t want to find that it has started rusting after a few months.

This TMH product has an aluminum casing, which is painted in black. The advantage is that this material is light, tough and will never rust. On a downside, the mounting brackets are made of stainless steel. This will not corrode easily, but is not as long lasting as aluminum.

What’s Included In The Box?

Essentially there will not be a huge amount, but most of the necessary stuff. Once you open it up, just make sure that you have all the parts so that you don’t get caught out mid way through the installation process.

Here is what you’ll find in the box:

  • 1 x TMH light bar
  • 2 x Mounting brackets
  • 2 x mounting screws
  • 1 x installation instructions

The main thing that isn’t there is would be the wiring harness. You can get these for less than $20, and it’s important you get them as part of your order. If you don’t have the wiring, then you cannot complete installation. One thing to look out for when picking a wiring harness is to get one that has long enough cabling.

If you have a large truck then you can quickly end up with cables that are too short.

Where Would You Use it?

This TMH light bar is extremely versatile. Yes, the most likely place to attach it to is a car, truck or off-road vehicle. That’s the primary design for it, and we’ll take a closer look at some suitable vehicles in the next section. But there are other ways to use it as well.

You don’t have to just consider installing it on a mobile basis. It will work perfectly fine as stationary lighting equipment on a construction site, mining operation, workshop or even your basement. Basically, anywhere that you need to have lots of bright light.

If you don’t have electricity running to the place you need some light, then this can easily be hooked up to a small generator or just some car batteries. It’s a very flexible way and many commercial situations use such light bars on a regular basis.

Suitable Vehicles

The great thing about the majority of light bars is that they can literally be attached on any type of vehicle. The only restriction you have is that you want to find a product that isn’t too long to fit the area that you can attach it to.

The majority of people that buy these generally spend a lot of time in the dark or other badly lit areas. That is especially the case in rural areas or when you head off-road. But you don’t have to own a truck or 4x4 to take advantage of this TMH product. It is small enough to fit on the front bumper of a regular family car.

Cars, SUVs, 4x4s and trucks are the most common vehicles, but here are some other ideas to consider.

Tit is perfectly suitable for use as an ATV LED light bar. As long as you can find enough space on it for the brackets and it doesn’t protrude from the frame, then you should be good to go. As you’ll most likely be using an ATV in very rural places or off-road, this is a very important addition to buy.

It’s also important to mention that you’re not really restricted to wheeled vehicles. It’s perfectly suitable to attach one or several of these to a boat. Whether that’s a small commercial fishing boat, or just a pleasure yacht or sailing boat.

When you have to navigate rivers and lakes in the dark it is very important that you can see far enough to avoid trouble. With a couple of these strategically placed around your boat you’ll have all the light you need.

Another common use is a stationary source of light in a workshop, constriction or mining site. These are often places where you need lots of light, but don’t have a ready supply of regular lighting. You also want to avoid setting up dozens or hundreds of lights. With a couple of these light bars you can avoid all that hassle.

Set Up Instructions

There are two parts to installing a light bar. First, you have to fit the brackets and attach the bar itself. This can be done in many different places on the vehicle. But the best location is around the front bumper.

For a secure fixing, the best thing you can attach it to is a bull bar at the from. But this is not a necessary part for it to work well. You will need to make sure that you measure the right distance for the bar to be perfectly center. Then you can drill some holes for the brackets to be attached to.

Once the brackets are in place you can simply slide on the light bar itself. This is a very unique way, as most other light bars have brackets that go onto the ends. This means that you have a lot more flexibility to install the bar in tighter spaces.

The next major step is the wiring. This is something you need to be careful with, and it’s best to follow the instructions in the wiring harness manual. Essentially, you need wiring to go to the batter, and a switch in the cabin to choose different light settings. And that’s basically it. Should only take about an hour or less.

The TMH 20 inch LED light bar is an excellent choice if you’re on a budget but still want to be able to see a lot more on dark roads. The 126W output gives you excellent visibility in spot and flood light settings. That way you’ll see exactly what’s ahead and to the sides.
